Dr. Jeehan N. Abdul Ghaffar
International Development Expert
Jeehan Abdul Ghaffar is an international development expert who has devoted more than 20 years to working on global, regional, and national issues related to poverty reduction, conflict resolution, human development, and gender.
Abdul Ghaffar is currently a senior advisor to the executive director at the World Bank Group Board of Directors, representing countries in the Middle East and North Africa and South Asia regions. Previously, she was the deputy head of the United Kingdom Department of International Development in Yemen. She was also a member of the governance team at the United Nations Development Programme and a researcher at the United Nations Development Fund for Women.
Abdul Ghaffar earned her PhD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University, where her research centered on institutional resilience during war. As a distinguished Fulbright Scholar, she completed an MA in International Development at the University of Denver, further enhancing her expertise in addressing complex global challenges.
