Development Champions Forum Concludes Eleventh Meeting

June 2, 2024 - June 5, 2024 Amman, Jordan

The eleventh meeting of the Development Champions Forum, part of the Rethinking Yemen’s Economy initiative, took place from June 2-5, 2024, in Amman, Jordan.

The forum focused on the challenges facing Yemen’s banking sector and the country’s e-commerce environment. During the meeting, participants put forward a set of recommendations for local and regional stakeholders as well as international donors, outlining economic priorities during and after the war.

The forum also dedicated significant discussions to the challenges and opportunities for the Yemeni e-commerce sector. Despite the global e-commerce boom fueling economic growth elsewhere, Yemen's e-commerce sector is still in its early stages. Encouraging equitable and sustainable ways to support the e-commerce sector was a major focus of the eleventh Development Champions Forum.

The Rethinking Yemen’s Economy program is led by the Sana’a Center for Strategic Studies, DeepRoot, and the Center for Applied Research in Partnership with the Orient (CARPO), and is funded by the European Union.
