Afrah Al-Zouba
Managing Director of the Executive Bureau for the Acceleration of Aid Absorption and Support for Policy Reforms
Afrah AlZouba is a prominent figure in Yemen's development and peacebuilding landscape. With over two decades of experience in these fields, she has made significant contributions to addressing the country's complex challenges.
AlZouba was appointed as the Managing Director of the Executive Bureau for the Acceleration of Aid Absorption and Support for Policy Reforms in March 2021. She plays a crucial role in improving Yemen's government institutional capacity and enhancing its ability to effectively utilize foreign aid and implement policy reforms.
Prior to her current position, in 2019 Afrah served as an advisor to Yemen's Prime Minister on humanitarian relief. Previously, she served as Deputy Secretary-General of the National Dialogue Conference and the Constitution Drafting Committee (2013-2015). Al-Zouba has also been actively involved in national and international peacebuilding efforts in Yemen. She has participated in numerous dialogues and negotiations, including the crucial Kuwait talks, to promote reconciliation and stability in Yemen.
In addition to her government work, Al-Zouba has a strong track record in community development. She has successfully implemented projects aimed at poverty alleviation, health, education, and women's empowerment. Her ability to identify and address the needs of marginalized communities has made a lasting impact.
Al-Zouba holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Science and Technology in Sana’a, a Master’s degree in Community Health from the National University of Malaysia, and a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Sana’a University.
